Wow, you guys are harsh!

I would of taken the boxes off, but c'mon it's not like he's selling a rust bucket sitting in the weeds on cinder blocks. I know all too well that when a project car sits for too long it becomes a shelf.

That car does look like a clean starting point for someone's project. I can't say if $12.5 is right or not...but I doubt he's far from the mark. Definitely not in crazy guy territory. I really don't see why this is a bad ad. He has great info about what he's selling, he can spell, and he didn't keyword bomb the post.

Just because it's missing the engine doesn't make it a $2k car.

I was just pointing out the boxes—I'm the biggest Supra fan in the world and would drool over this with $7,500 invested (engine, trans, interior). I think the ad was fine except for the fact that he never removed the boxes (something that may cause many people to keep on scrolling).

Because of everything else that makes it a manual. Pedal assembly, lines, wiring, computer programming. There's a LOT more to a manual swap than just the transmission.

By that I mean, he thinks the cars worth a bajillion dollars no matter what shape it's in because he A) Has the whole Fast and Furious collection on steelbook Blu-Ray and B) Seen those few modded to all hell supras fetch $100k on eBay or Autotrader.

Here's something he needs to understand; it's not the car that causes those super high prices. It's the engine. No 2Jz = just another Toyota. It's not like a Ferrari where it's still worth $$$ even after a wreck with no parts left. For $12k, I would expect a working non-TT 2jz in decent condition, and this hot mess here is faaaaaaar below that.

for a car like that, most of the bracketry is there, whether an auto or stick. and there isn't much there as is.

That's quite an over-simplification. An auto doesn't come with a master cylinder and all the associated hardware to mount it. It doesn't come with any hydraulic lines. Or any of the clips that hold those lines in. And on and on. Any time you perform a swap like that you're going to need lots of bits and pieces. At least to do it right you will. Lots of details...

Besides it's information about the car that he's selling. Seems like pertinent info to list in the for sale ad. He's just telling you what's been done. That's why he's 'claiming it's a manual' while telling you it doesn't have a transmission and was originally built as an auto.
